The Men’s Outdoor Onsen Located on the 31st Floor

From the breathtaking open-air spa on the 31st floor to the stunning views from every room starting on the 18th floor, Candeo The Tower Hotel in Osaka is designed to impress. This recently built hotel (opened in 2024) is conveniently located near Umeda and Osaka train stations and just a short distance from the lively Namba and Dotonbori areas. Set along the river, it offers serene views while keeping you close to all the amenities and necessities you might need. This is my personal review from my stay in October 2024—I hope you’ll enjoy all the beautiful offerings this hotel has to share as much as I did.

At the time of my stay, I didn’t plan on writing a review, so the photos aren’t the best quality as they were taken purely for personal memories.

Why I Chose this Hotel

One of the most incredible features that drew me to this hotel, even before booking, was the amazing SkySpa on the 31st floor. As soon as you see the photos on any booking site or the hotel’s own website, it’s clear this isn’t your typical spa experience. The SkySpa offers both outdoor and indoor onsen-style baths, allowing you to relax while soaking in breathtaking panoramic views of Osaka. In fact, it’s the highest outdoor onsen in the city, making it a truly unique experience.

I also chose this hotel because it’s newly built I love staying in modern, well-maintained properties where everything feels fresh and polished. Another deciding factor was its convenient location, close to both Dotonbori and Osaka Station, which made it easy for me to get around and explore the city without hassle.

1. The Room

I stayed in a Deluxe King Room with Executive Bar Lounge Access – High Floor, and I found the extra value of the Club Lounge access (which I’ll cover later in this review) to be absolutely worth it. The room itself was spacious by Japanese standards, not overly large but very well-designed. It felt modern, exceptionally clean, and came equipped with all the essential amenities, including a desk, tv, kettle and coffee, phone, and even an ironing board.

The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I loved the thoughtful touch of the Candeo-branded yukata, which you can wear to the onsen — perfect for relaxing after a long day of exploring. The highlight, though, was the stunning view. Since all rooms are located above the 18th floor of the tower, you’re guaranteed breathtaking vistas over Osaka.

2. The Facilities

SkySpa: A True Japanese Onsen Experience in the Clouds

Here, you can soak in warm waters while enjoying breathtaking panoramic views of the Osaka cityscape. It’s the perfect place to unwind, relax your body, and experience an authentic Japanese onsen in a modern setting.

Amenities

  • Candeo’s original organic shampoo, conditioner, and high-quality towels (be sure to bring your towel from your room, as they’re not provided in the SkySpa).
  • Fast-drying hair dryers and skincare products (makeup remover, facial lotion, and emulsion in the women’s powder room).

Good to Know:

  • Open daily from 3:00 PM to 11:00 AM (Sauna closed from 2:00 AM to 6:00 AM).
  • The SkySpa is free for hotel guests.

Whether you visit at sunrise or late at night under the stars, the SkySpa is an unforgettable part of the Candeo experience and a must-try for anyone staying at the hotel.

3. Dining

During my stay at the Candeo Hotel, I didn’t have the chance to experience the dining options beyond the Executive Club Lounge. However, the food offerings I saw looked incredible, and on my next visit, I’ll make it a priority to review them in detail.

If the hotel’s dining options don’t completely suit your preferences, you’ll find an abundance of eateries nearby, as well as convenience stores right at your doorstep. One of the great things about Japan is the sheer variety and quality of food available everywhere, so no matter your tastes or dietary needs, you’re sure to find something delicious, whether at Candeo’s restaurants or in the vibrant neighborhood surrounding the hotel.

THE C’s SKY DINING

It offers an unforgettable all-day dining experience with sweeping panoramic views of Osaka. From this vantage point, you can admire the lively Midosuji Street stretching down to Namba, take in the historic charm of the Kitahama district, and gaze eastward toward the stunning Ikoma Mountains a perfect blend of vibrant cityscapes and natural beauty. The restaurant features an Italian buffet crafted with carefully selected ingredients, serving delicious options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Breakfast is served here daily: 7:00am – 10:00am (last entry: 09:30am).

THE C’s SKY CAFE & BAR

Take a moment to escape the everyday at THE C’s SKY CAFE & BAR, where floor-to-ceiling windows frame stunning views of Osaka’s city skyline. As the light shifts throughout the day, the ambience transforms subtly, creating a peaceful and luxurious atmosphere perfect for unwinding.

Breakfast (9:00 AM – 11:00 AM)
Start your morning with a beautifully curated breakfast set, perfectly paired with sparkling wine. On sunny days, relax on the elegant terrace and soak in the breathtaking views. For a touch of indulgence, you can even upgrade your drink to Champagne for an additional fee.

Lunch (11:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
Savor lunchtime exclusives like the signature American Clubhouse Sandwich with creamy Greek yogurt dip or enjoy Candeo’s famous beef tendon curry. The curry, crafted with a unique blend of spices, sautéed onions, apples, and tender beef tendon, offers a rich and comforting flavor that keeps guests coming back for more.

Cake & Drink Set (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Perfect for a leisurely tea time, this set includes your choice of cake and a drink from a variety of coffees and teas — ideal for a mid-day treat with a view.

THE EXECUTIVE CLUB LOUNGE

The only dining and drinks experience I had during my stay at Candeo The Tower Hotel was in the Executive Club Lounge, which I felt was worth the additional cost included in my room rate. The lounge itself is stunning, with breathtaking views over Osaka, the perfect place to unwind with a drink in hand. The bar offered a solid selection of wines, beers, soft drinks, coffee, and spirits. However, the food options were quite limited and could definitely be improved. On one evening, I even popped down to 7-Eleven to grab some sandwiches to round out the experience. With a more robust food offering, the club lounge could deliver a much more well-rounded and memorable experience.

Location

One of the main reasons I chose the Candeo The Tower Hotel was its excellent location. It’s conveniently situated not far from Umeda Station and close to the vibrant areas of Namba and Dotonbori. While the surrounding neighborhood is more of a business district, the hotel is also near Sakaisuji Station and within easy reach of Osaka Castle, along with many other popular sightseeing spots listed below.

How to get to the hotel:

Best time to visit Osaka

Osaka enjoys four distinct seasons, each offering a unique charm. The best time to visit is during spring (March to May) and autumn (October to November) when the weather is mild, skies are clear, and the city is alive with cherry blossoms or vibrant autumn foliage. I love this weather especially for Onsen as its not too Cold or Hot.

Summers (June to August) can be hot and humid with occasional typhoons, while winters (December to February) are cool but rarely extreme, making it pleasant for sightseeing. Plan your trip around these shoulder seasons for the most comfortable experience and fewer crowds.

Final Thoughts

My final thoughts on Candeo Hotels The Tower are that it’s an excellent place to stay in Osaka. The hotel feels brand new and modern, with stunning views of the city, an unbeatable location, and a truly outstanding onsen — offering some of the most epic panoramas of Osaka you’ll ever see. This alone makes it an experience not to be missed.

If I had to point out areas for improvement, I’d suggest shorter wait times at check-in and check-out, as the hotel can get quite busy, and an upgrade to the food offerings in the Executive Club Lounge. That said, these are minor points compared to the overall quality of the stay.

I would highly recommend this hotel — even if it’s just to visit the incredible onsen — and I’ll definitely return on my next trip to Osaka. If you’re planning a visit, I hope you enjoy your stay as much as I did.
