Discover the best tours and day trips with Viator! Explore Dan's top picks and book unforgettable experiences for your next adventure.
Hey everyone, Dan here! 👋 Alongside the flight and hotel deals I post, the question I get asked most is how I find good tours and day trips wherever I land. The answer is nearly always Viator, so here’s why, plus the ones I keep booking.

What Are Viator Tours and Activities?
Viator is a Tripadvisor company and one of the biggest marketplaces going for tours and things to do. There are north of 400,000 experiences on there. Walking tours, food tours, day trips, skip-the-line tickets, boat cruises, cooking classes.
Every listing carries real traveller reviews, most experiences come with free cancellation, and plenty let you reserve now and pay later. That last one matters more than you’d think when your plans are still loose.
Why I Recommend Booking Through My Viator Page
Rather than leave you trawling thousands of listings, I keep my own Viator shop page with collections for the places I’ve been and researched properly: Bali, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Mauritius, Dubai and Sydney, among others. Same Viator checkout, same prices, just narrowed down to what I’d book.
Popular Viator Tours and Activities by Destination
The ones I go back to: Bali temple and rice terrace day trips, Hanoi street food walks, Mekong Delta cruises out of Ho Chi Minh City, catamaran and snorkelling trips in Mauritius, Dubai desert safaris, Sydney Harbour cruises. Wherever you’re headed, odds are it’s on there with enough reviews to judge it properly.
How to Book
- Click through to my Viator shop page using the button below.
- Browse by destination, or search the city or activity you want.
- Pick your tour and check the cancellation terms before you pay.
- Book through Viator’s checkout. No promo code needed here, the price is the same as going direct.
Half-day city tour, food crawl, or something bigger, it’s probably on Viator. My page is the shortcut to the ones I’d book myself.

My Tips for Booking Viator Tours and Activities
- Book popular experiences 3-5 days ahead, especially skip-the-line tickets and small-group tours that sell out fast.
- Check the cancellation window before you pay. Most tours let you cancel up to 24 hours ahead for a full refund.
- Read the most recent reviews, not just the overall rating, since operators and conditions can change season to season.
- Short on time? Filter by “Likely to Sell Out” or “Free Cancellation” and the list shrinks fast.
The best tour is the one that suits how you travel. Some trips I want a slow half day with time to sit somewhere and eat. Other times I’ll cram in as much as the daylight allows. My shop page has both, plus the odd splurge like that Halong Bay cruise up top. Find something you like the look of, compare it against one or two similar listings, then book whichever fits your budget and your day. If you end up doing one off the back of this, tell me how it went.
